From The William G. and Marie Selby Foundation
The William G. and Marie Selby Foundation recently awarded over $1M in grants to 17 nonprofit organizations which provide essential services and enrichment to our local area. Grants awarded focus on preserving and advancing the safety, security, accessibility, and efficiency of facilities and services provided by these organizations.
“The impact of these grants will enhance and improve the quality of life for people throughout our region,” states the Selby Foundation’s President & CEO, Carol Butera.
Grant Recipients:
- Art League of Manatee County – $150,000 to assist with design development and construction documents for a new ArtCenter
- Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County Inc. – $25,000 to purchase and install flooring and doors
- Citizen Scientists League – $40,845 to purchase equipment for transformative education and exploration
- Community Assisted and Supporting Living, Inc. – $39,000 to install a new metal roof for a multi-unit affordable housing complex
- Community Foundation of Sarasota County – $100,000 for Season of Sharing 2020-21
- Friends of Florida State Parks – $77,300 to assist with the construction of a fully-accessible fishing/education pier and utility trailer for an all-terrain power wheelchair at Oscar Scherer State Park
- Girls Incorporated of Sarasota County – $46,844 to purchase and install additional security measures
- Gulfcoast Legal Services Inc. – $10,051 to purchase technology for a mobile unit for staff to reach high-needs clients with accessibility or safety issues
- Mothers Helping Mothers Inc. – $40,000 (matching grant) to assist with the purchase of green improvements for their building
- Realize Bradenton Inc. – $17,444 to assist with the purchase of public artworks to the Family Reading Zone in the new Riverwalk Park East
- Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center, Inc. – $53,387 to assist with a Therapeutic Privacy Landscaping Project
- Sarasota Scullers Youth Rowing Program Inc. – $11,930 to assist with the purchase of rowing machines, safety-related equipment, and repairs
- Sarasota Sharks Incorporated – $20,734 to purchase and install two variable frequency drives for increased pool efficiency
- Senior Friendship Centers, Inc. – $187,621 to install a new roof for The Caregiving Place facility
- UnidosNow – $50,000 to assist with individuals facing financial difficulties

- Virginia B. Andes Volunteer Community Clinic – $63,312 to assist with building restoration and security camera system
